Join one of the largest and liveliest music departments in the UK with a community of over 400 student performers

Our Conservatoire spaces include computerised recording and media studios, well-equipped practice rooms with grand pianos supplied by Steinway & Sons, soundproofed practice rooms for rehearsals and lessons, and an acoustically superb performance venue.

Perform throughout your degree

Join a selection of 6 orchestras, 9 large ensembles, 5 choirs and more than 70 small ensembles

Perform on and off campus throughout your degree, including at our on-site Chapel - a fantastic venue for performances and rehearsals at the centre of Bishop Otter Campus in ÂúÃÃÊÓƵ.

Learn from staff with real world experience

Be taught by a core team of experienced tutors alongside over 60 specialist instrumental and vocal teachers

All of our staff are active, practicing professional musicians and researchers who regularly perform and record. Around 140 professional tutors regularly visit campus throughout the semester to teach instrumental and vocal one-to-one lessons, as well as ensemble coaching.

Composer, conductor and organist Alexander Flood read Music at Oxford, with John Caldwell and Guy Newbury, and attended the composition classes of Robert Sherlaw-Johnson and Robert Saxton.
